But look out, Teslas and Nissan Leafs are to become a much more common sight, in the next two years, according to the International Energy Agency.
The global fleet of electric vehicles is destined to triple to 13 million vehicles by 2020. This is significant, considering that last year figures were 3.7 million.
Most of the large manufacturers, such as VW, GM and Audi are jumping on-board the EV revolution and that’s great news for us consumers as we’ll have much more choice. We hope that as technology is pushed by the major players that prices and complexity of the cars will become lower.
